Junior Development Program Invitees
The WDCA have announced the invitees who will be part of the 2013/14 WDCA Junior Development Program commencing on
Sunday 18th August, 2.30pm-4.30pm
at the Action Cricket Centre. The sessions will continue on each Sunday afternoon until the Junior Cricket season starts in mid-October.
The players listed below have been divided into two squads, firstly, the WDCA Western Waves pathway players and the second group, the WDCA Junior Development Squad. Any WDCA players, who through their pathway trials process are eliminated from the Western Waves Squad, they will be included in the Warrnambool Junior Development Group for this season. Players will be added to the program from time to time where performances warrant this action or removed if there is no desire to further participate.
A $5.00 venue attendance fee will be required for payment by each player at each session. John Pattison (Level 3 Coach), Gordon McLeod (Level 2 Coach) and Andrew Thomson (Level 2 Coach) will be conducting the sessions this season with the help of other accredited specialised Club coaches.
The named squads are as follows:
Western Waves Pathways Squad
Brody Couch, Xavier Mungean (Nirranda), Charlie Locke, Casey Sims (Wesley CBC), Jack Knight, Dominic Bandara, Charlie Lee (Dennington), Liam Brown, Nick Robertson, Cody Brogden, Bradley Hunt, Harrison Bond, Zac Welsford (Russells Creek), Jed Henderson, Connor Umbers, Harry Rooke (Brierly), Thomas Jackson, Joe McKinnon (Woodford), Jacob Pope (Nestles), Alexander Jennings (Merrivale), Travis Parsons, Chris Gurney, Harry Hogan, Rosie Wynd (Port Fairy) and Jack O’Sullivan (Koroit).
WDCA Junior Development Squad
Jarryd Walsh, Josh Oates, Jackson Couch (Nirranda), Caleb Bidmade, Lewis Eldridge (Nestles), Matt Dennis, Callum Dunn (Wesley CBC), Sam Younghusband, Connor MacLeod, Jacob Buxton (Russells Creek), Ben Heard, Andrew Lowe (Port Fairy), Damon Harrison (West Panthers), Ryan Prout, Jacob Brooks, Isaac Frusher (Brierly), Oliver King, Harry Rantall (Dennington), Mitchell Bidmade, Will Fleming (Merrivale), Will Scriven (Woodford), Riley Patel, Brent Fedley, Charlie Blacker (Allansford), Will Flaherty, Sam Alberts (East Warrnambool YCW), Harrison Cozens, Willem Drew (Koroit).
A new training top for the Junior Development Program has been developed this season for purchase at a cost of $30.00. It contains images of successful Australian Test cricketers. This top is to recognise the players level of achievement in cricket so far, through their selection in this program. There is also an added incentive for them to have the opportunity to further improve their skill levels through a strong commitment to training and then set personal goals to play and achieve at a higher level such as representing the WDCA in inter-association matches and at the various age level Country Weeks in January 2014.
Many players involved in the program last season showed marked improvement in their skills and techniques as the season progressed. The coaches expect this improvement to continue further and grow in season 2013/14.
